The entry for this church in the Kerkgebouwen in Limburg [www.kerkgebouwen-in-limburg.nl/kerken/roosteren/jacobus-de-meerdere] [accessed 2 February 2017] reports an ancient font of ca. 1200 in the new church. The Monumenten in Nederland, Limburg, entry for Roosteren [www.dbnl.org/tekst/sten009monu08_01/sten009monu08_01_0136.php] [accessed 2 February 2017] notes also: "Tot de inventaris behoren een hardstenen doopvont (circa 1200)". The font consists of a round limestone basin with slightly tapering sides, with four human heads set at 90-degree angles on the sides; one of the heads is broken off; the base consists of a broad central shaft and four angle colonettes, the latter rpobably a modern replacement; the square lower base has mouldings forming the bases for the columns on the upper surface, and is decorated with a broad lanceolated leaf at each corner. Dome-shaped brass font cover, quite ornate; probably 19th-century. [NB: Joost limburg suggests that the entry for Echt in Drake (2002: 176) quite likely refers to this font, as Roosteren is in the municipality of Echt-Susteren].
