The Annales de la Société Royale d'Archéologie de Bruxelles, Tome 6, 1892, page 104, describes the baptismal font at Echt as having a round basin with four protruding heads set at 90-degree angles; the main side between the heads bears the face of the sun holding in the mouth a branch of a three-leaved palm and a leaf of a three-leafed clover, the ornament being divided on either side; the remaining three facets are carved into architectural ornaments. Saintenoy (ibid.), sight unseen, suggests similar fonts at Archennes and Dinant. Drake (2002) lists a Mosan font, round bowl on multi-support base, in Echt, but Joost Limburg suggests the font referred to is actually the one at Roosteren, listed as "Echt" perhaps because Roosteren is in the municipality of Echt-Susteren]. The entry for this church in Kerkgebouwen [www.kerkgebouwen-in-limburg.nl/kerken/echt/landricus] [accessed 2 February 2017] has: "Marmeren doopvont, XVII B op latere voet". The present font in use in this church, however, a barrel-shaped basin decorated with Biblical scenes (Noah's Ark, Crucifixion, etc.), raised on a plain pedestal base, is modern. It has a metal [copper?] low-dome shaped cover with inscription on the top; Greek cross finial. A communication from Pol Herman to BSI (e-mail of 2 March 2022) informs that "The former priest of the church has confirmed that it is still standing there [is this referring to the old font? described in Saintenoy?], but it is no longer used. It is replaced by a more recent baptismal font" [cf. supra].
