Church Notes: Mérimée [ref.: PA00099749] notes: "Eglise Saint-Martial [...] Il y avait, au 9e siècle, une églsie [sic] Saint-Martial près de la Corrèze [...] Au 12e siècle, elle passait sous l'autorité de l'évêché de Limoges puis, en 1318, sous celle de l'évêque de Tulle. De plan rectangulaire, cette église se compose de cinq travées. La lourdeur des arcs doubleaux, un pan de mur couronné de modillons semblent indiquer qu'a été utilisée, en partie, une infrastructure romane sur laquelle ont été disposées des croisées d'ogives dont la nervure à prisme semble remonter au 13e siècle."
