Church Notes: Listed in Mérimée [ref.: PA00099745]: "Prieuré bénédictin fondé vers 1060 [...] Au 15e siècle, son influence diminue et, au 18e siècle, n'y reste plus qu'un moine. En 1746, un brevet royal décrète la suppression du prieuré. En 1790, bâtiments et biens sont vendus comme biens nationaux." It was a priory church of the Abbaye de la Chaise-Dieu. The Eglise de Port-Dieu appears to have been built ca.1200 outside the old priory close; it was recovered in 1990
