Listed and illustrated in Palissy [ref.: IM19000488]: "bénitier […] granite [...] Cordelette sculptée en bordure de la cuve […] Aucune certitude sur ce bénitier quand à la provenance, la datation, l'identité même de l'objet." The reticence obvious in this source may be caused by the odd-looking side drain in this object; it may very well have been a stoup that was later adapted as a font by giving it the drainage required, however inelegant. Alternatively the large drain hole may have been done if the object was used at a point as a garden or farm trough, to catch the rain-water from upper drains, for instance, as some former fonts were.
