There is an entry for Willian [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TL2230/willian/] [accessed 18 October 2016] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Hertford, vol. 3, 1912) notes: "The advowson belonged to the lord of the manor, and is first mentioned in 1239 […] The chancel and nave date from the earlier part of the 12th century"; no font is mentioned in the VCH entry.
