There is an entry for [North] Mimms [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TL2204/north-mimms/] [accessed 19 September 2016], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it]. The Victoria County History (Hertfordshire, vol. 2, 1908) notes: "The church of North Mimms was in early times attached to the manor. In 1237–8 Stephen de Somery presented […] The oldest part of the church is the chancel, which is of the same width as the nave, and has a slight lean to the south. […] The font stands at the west end of the nave, and is modern." The modern font consists of an octagonal basin decorated with deeply-carved pointed windows in the sides, and tracery around the bottom; raised on a broad central shaft and eight outer constructional colonnettes; modern wooden cover on it.
