Listed and illustrated in in Danmarks Kirker (Præstø Amt VI, vol. 2 (1933-1935): 829) [http://danmarkskirker.natmus.dk/uploads/tx_tcchurchsearch/Praestoe_0819-0832.pdf] accessed 1 September 2016] as a sandstone font of ca. 1625 in Renaissance style, somewhat reminiscent to the one at Vordingborg Castle; it was earlier painted but the paint was removed in 1869. The entry for this church in Gyldendal Den Store Danske [http://denstoredanske.dk/Kunst_og_kultur/Arkitektur/Danske_kirker_S-Så/Sværdborg_Kirke] [accessed 1 September 2016] notes a sandstone baptismal font ca. 1615, attributed to Hans Brockman (d . 1617). The corresponding entry in Nordens Kirker [www.nordenskirker.dk/Tidligere/Svaerdborg_kirke/Svaerdborg_kirke.htm] [accessed 1 September 2016] suggest a date ca. 1625. On-site-notes: the present font consists of a round basin with a moulded upper rim, the sides and underbowl decorated with a gadrooned pattern, lion heads set at 90-degree angles on it; baluster-shaped stem with floral and foliage motifs, and human heads; square lower base with four statues at the angles, each an Evangelist with his symbol and a book. No cover present. Danmarks Kirker (ibid.) reports a baptismal dish [Fad] of south-German make, "med det habsburgske Rigsvaaben" [NB: not seen during our visit].
