Dehlio (1912) reports a 16th-century font made of brass here: "Taufbrunnen, Gelbguß, M. 16. Jh." Un-corroborated information claims the font is Flemish, made in Antwerp between 1531 and 1535, an excellent example decorated with Renaissance motifs; badly damaged in WWII. The font consists of a round basin decorated with cherub heads alternatings with rosettes on the side, all around; this pattern of cherub-rosette repeats itself on several areas of the font cover and also on the base of the font; a moulding marks the division with the underbowl, the latter decorated with a pattern of concave ribs; round pedestal base with four siren-like angels (?) set at 90-degrees of the underbowl; a similar setting exists at the lower base with the four scrolled foliage motifs; the splaying lower base has graded moulding and one band of ball-in-socket pattern. The font cover is an elaborate affair; mid stem and splaying lower end are decorated with rosettes and cherubs as noted above; the upper volume or finial has an open-work tower-like structure with four figures set at 90-degree angles; three of them are clerics dressed in bishop's robes, mitres on their heads, each carrying an object (edifice, book,...); the fourth is a youth without distinctive garb; at the top is the loop that is used by the crane; the metal wall-mounted crane is modern.
