Scene Description: Source caption: "St.Cecilia's church, Girton, Notts. Much restored but some interesting traces of medieval stonework incorporated. Probably the highest spot in Girton, un-touched by water when the Trent floods."

There is an entry for this Girton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK8266/girton/] [accessed 28 June 2016], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this church in English Heritage [Listing NGR: SK8253666205] (1967) reports a 19th-century "octagonal font on broached octagonal stem" in this medieval church; the font appears to be from the re-building of the church by Ewan Christian in 1879.
