Baptismal font consisting of a large roughly hemispherical basin decorated with a ribbed pattern of very broad ribs, with round arch-heads above; the upper rim retains one metal staple from an old cover, the one at the oposite end is lost leaving some damage on that spot; raised on a round pedestal base decorated with diagonal ribbing, ball motif, mouldings, etc.; this base appears ill-matched to the basin and may be a replacement of the original. No font cover present. The director of the Museo Catedralicio de Zamora, canon José Angel Rivera de las Heras, informed on 27 September 2012 in the official web site of the Santa Iglesia Catedral de Zamora [https://catedraldezamora.wordpress.com/2012/09/27/nuevas-restauraciones/] [accessed 16 June 2017] that the 15th-century baptismal font originally from the cathedral that had been on loan to the new parish church of Cristo Rey was back in the cathedral; the new parish church [Cristo Rey] was at the time having a new baptismal font made for its use instead ["La segunda pieza presentada fue una pila bautismal que está situada en la capilla de San Juan Evangelista, aunque en 1959 se regaló a la parroquia de Cristo Rey, de nueva construcción en aquel momento. Hace tiempo, desde el Cabildo iniciaron conversaciones con la parroquia de Cristo Rey y decidieron hacer una pila nueva para esta iglesia y trasladar la original a la Seo, donde ya [se] encuentra esta pieza de piedra del siglo XV."].
