Font Notes:
Baptismal font of stone noted as the largest of three "vasche" noted in the Archivio storico lombardo (vol. I, xxi, 1894) [https://archive.org/stream/archiviostoricol21sociuoft/archiviostoricol21sociuoft_djvu.txt] [accessed 1 June 2016] noted as having been donated to the Museo by the Odazio brothers [="Fratelli Odazio": "Tra le vie di Santa Maria Fulcorina e Borromeo , sorge un gruppo di case antiche, in parte ricostrutte o rimodernate in parecchie epoche. The object appears to be a fragment of a font, or an unfinished font, or, perhaps a font that was original made to have the back built into or against a wall, as the shape and extent of the uncarved area appear to indicate; the basin sides and underbowl parts that are carved show a deeply-carved pattern of large leaves all around, while the short octagonal stem is decorated with some foliage and 'bundled' shapes. The irregular inner basin is lined with metal. The accompanying legend in the museum display reads: "Scultore Lombardo / Secolo XV / Vasca / Dono nel 1894 dei Fratelli Odazio". Was it originally from the Chiesa di San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore?
