[KEEP THIS BSI ENTRY HIDDEN [i.e., notBSI] UNTIL FURTHER CONFIRMATION FROM JUSTIN -- WE MAY NEED TO ERASE THE REMARK ABOUT THE WARDENS EVENTUALLY -- JUSTIN DID NOT REQUIRE THIS] A communication (e-mail of 13 May 2016) from Dr. Justin Kroesen, University Museum, Bergen, Norway, notes: "I can also add that very recently another Romanesque font was dug out in the church at Meeden in Groningen, hitherto unpublished (I took a large series of pictures and will publish an article on it later this year in Groninger kerken). This is a remarkable survival, since it is the best preserved Bentheim font in the northern Netherlands. The church wardens are a bit secretive about it though, for reasons I do not know." A report of a church open house in Menterwolde.info [www.menterwolde.info/nieuws/meeden/gerestaureerde-dorpskerk-meeden-houdt-open-huis/] [accessed 14 May 2016] (edition 28 March 2016) reports a Bentheim baptismal font in this church; it was discovered buried in church grounds during a restoration: "Bentheimer doopvont. Tijdens de restauratie is een Bentheimer doopvont onder de vloer gevonden." The font is in excellent preservation shape, with some damage at the metal pins location on the upper rim.
