Romanesque capital made of white marble with tapered abacus hollowed out for re-use as holy-water stoup; 12th-century, with 13th-century inscription: "Presbit Monachus de Grimaldi" [source: Diocèse de Fréjus-Toulon [www.diocese-frejus-toulon.com/Grimaud-Saint-Michel.html] [accessed 29 March 2016]]. Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM83000338]: "Chapiteau roman carré à tailloir évasé transformé en bénitier [marbre (blanc)] [...] 12e siècle [...] Inscription du 13e siècle." The capital has a shield charged with the arms of France on one side, a Latin inscription [cf. supra] in a rectangular frame with a Greek cross above it [view of the two other sides of the capital not available at present]; around the bottom above the roll moulding are some large oak (?) leaves. [NB: the baptismal font in this church is modern and we have no information of the medieval one here].
