There are five entries for Cambridge [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TL4458/cambridge/] [accessed 29 March 2016], none of which mentions cleric or church in it. The Victoria County History (Cambridge..., vol. 3, 1959) notes: "It seems probable that there was a church on Castle Hill well before the Norman Conquest. [...] All Saints by the Castle is no longer traceable, its site, on the western side of the Huntingdon Road where it entered the castle enclosure, being occupied by a walled nursery garden."
