Scene Description: the hole in the side may indicated an alternate use as a water trough or similar; the large gap in the upper rim, however, was very likely caused by the metal anchors of an old cover

12th-century baptisma font listed in Palissy [ref.: PM19001004]: "fonts baptismaux [...] grès (rose) [...] The eight large scallops around the top outer side give the font an octagonal shape there but the rest is round; the piping bars on the sides appear to be or different thickness, perhaps due to erosion. There is a drain hole in one of the panels, likely from a time the want served as water trough or similar alternate use. There is damage to the upper rim, some of it obviously caused by metal anchors of an old cover.
