The church is noted in Drochon's Histoire illustrée des pèlerinages français de la Très Sainte Vierge (Paris: Librairie Plon. [1890]: 559) as a 14th-century church that became "un lieu de pèlerinage célèbre" at the time of the Black Death. [NB: we have no information on the font of the 14th-centry chapel here].
