The inner well of the font has been fitted with a lead (?) lining that divides the space into two two areas, a division often found in French fonts of the 16th century and later; it must be a later modification. It is a font of the 'pseudo-suspended' type, in which a hemispherical basin appears to be suspended from the four-column square structure, on a square lower base; as such it is somewhat similar to other such fonts listed in this Index for this area [Fouilloy, Puits-la-Vallée, Saint-Eusoye, etc.]
