Baptismal font noted and illustrated in Die Bau- und Kunsdenk[...] Oldenburg (1896-1909). Listed in Ligtenberg (1915). Described and illustrated in the Evangelisch-lutherische Kirchengemeinde Tettens [www.kirche-tettens.de/oldorf/die-st-marienkirche/der-taufstein.html] [accessed 21 February 2016]: baptismal font of Weser sandstone consisting of a round basin with a protruding rim moulding and an inscription below "in tief eingeschlagener gotischer Kleinschrift" with the text: "int jaer uns hen mcccxcviii was herr Meine K.h."; thick roll moulding atop a cruciform base in which one arm is a pillar or buttress, while the other three have cookie-cutter like seated gardant lions; the four arms of this cross are set at 90-degree angles; the circular lower base is patly buried in the present flooring. There is no font cover present and a metal baptismal dish is being used atop the basin now for baptisms.
