Noted in Mithoff (1871-1880) and in Ligtenberg (1915) as a baptismal font of the Bentheim group. Listed in Ligtenberg (1915). Noted and illustrated in Drake (2002), who classes this font as "Bentheim School, 4. Hage. a. Type I", a group which includes the fonts at Berum, Forlitz-Blaukirchen, Hage, Kappeln, Keitum, Ohne, Roden, Westochtersum and Wesuwe. Noted and illustrated in the Parish site [www.ansgari-kirche-hage.de/wirueberuns/innenraum-vorstellung.html] [accessed 15 February 2016], as a Bentheim font as old as the church itself, located at the east end, in the chancel.
