Church Notes: original wooden church replaced by stone church late-12thC; tower and interior 19thC; restored 2012; owned by the Stichting Alde Fryske Tsjerken; known as 'Ioannis Theater Tsjerke Wier' and available for rent as venue
Listed in the Fries Museum records as a baptismal font of sandstone, dated 1510-1529, originally from the church at Wier. The font appears to have been still in the church, beneath the tower, ca. 1881; it was later omved to the Fries [then Friesch] Museum in nearby Leeuwarden.
