Font Notes:
Listed in the Fries Museum records as a baptismal font of sandstone, dated 1510-1529, originally from the church at Wier. The font appears to have been still in the church, beneath the tower, ca. 1881; it was later moved to the Fries [then Friesch] Museum in nearby Leeuwarden. The restored font consists of a square basin with broad chamferred sides, raised on a cylindrical pedestal base and a squate octagonal-to-square lower base or plinth. The four sides of the basin show: 1)the Baptism of Christ; 2)Christ meeting the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well; 3)a preiestly figure standing to the left of a baptismal font; 4)a tall hatted [priestly?] male figure on the right holds tha hand of a female figure on the left and poses his right hand on her head; the pedestal base is decorated with a torsade pattern. The former church is now used as a hall run by the Stichting Alde Fryske Tsjerken [http://aldefrysketsjerken.nl/index.php?saftid=saft|c6e41166-d225-433d-8adf-4e9f605a41d6] [accessed 3 February 2016]
