Font Notes:
Ort van Schonauwen (1858) reports a baptismal font here with some damage, the round basin decorated with four human heads, all of similar features except that one of them is bearded; on an octagonal-to-square pedestal base. OvS (ibid.) mentions a metal staple or brace (?) that secures the basin to the base, and suggests a 16th-century date for the font. The Reliwiki entry for Lage Mierde [http://reliwiki.nl/index.php?title=Lage_Mierde,_Dorpsplein_1_-_Stephanus] [accessed 18 January 2016] reports a font of the 14th century in this church. The Voorloopige lijst der Nederlandsche monumenten van geschiedenis en kunst. Deel X. De provincie Noord-Brabant. Algemeene Landsdrukkerij, (Den Haag / A. Oosthoek, Utrecht 1931) [www.dbnl.org/tekst/_voo016voor09_01/_voo016voor09_01_0089.php] [accessed 18 January 2016] notes: "Hardsteenen doopvont (XIV)". [NB: e-mail from Pol Herman (29 December 2021): " The local historical society told me today that it is not in the church. They think it is lost since 1860."]
