Ortt van Schonauwen (1858) reports a baptismal font of red sandstone, consisting of an octagonal basin on a pedestal base at Oosthuizen; it is adorned with four human heads, three male and one female, as well as foliage on the sides; the rim is badly damaged, OvS adds, and it is likely 13th- or 14th-century; in 1848 [presumably when OvS saw it], it was at the northeast of the churchyard partly buried in the ground serving as water trough. It must have been 'rescued' from such down-to-earth use at some point after that, because the Voorloopige lijst der Nederlandsche monumenten van geschiedenis en kunst. Deel V, I. De provincie Noord-Holland (uitgezonderd Amsterdam) (Utrecht: A Oosthoek, 1921) reports that a fragment of a 15th-century stone baptismal font from Oosthuiizen is now [i.e., ca.1921] in a museum in Amsterdam.
