There are photographs [Tresoar Fotos, no. 31 952 / 9533] of drawings of the font in the Dutch Reformed Church in Tjalhuizum made by a photographer of the Friesch Museum in 1982. The museum's Catalogus of 1881 describes the font of Andernacher stone originally from the church at Tjalhuizum, a gift to the museum [cf. infra]; the octagonal basin is decorated with eight Gothic carvings, the heads identified as those of St. Joseph, a crowned Mary, St. Lawrence, Veronica's veil, St. Andrew, St. Barbara, St. Peter and St Paul; the description includes measurements [="Doopvont uit de kerk van Tjalhuizum, rustende op een achtkantig piedestal, versierd met gothieke bogen (Andernacher steen). De kom van binnen rond, van buiten achtkantig; op elk vlak een medaillon en haut relief, voorstellende en buste: 1. de H. Jozef; 2. de H. Maria met een kroon op het hoofd; 3. de H. The DBNL entry [www.dbnl.org/tekst/_voo016voor08_01/_voo016voor08_01_0044.php] [accessed 2 January 2015] quotes from the Voorloopige lijst der Nederlandsche monumenten van geschiedenis en kunst. Deel IX. De provincie Friesland. Algemeene Landsdrukkerij (Den Haag: A. Oosthoek; Utrecht, 1930) which describes a 15th-century sandstone font with an octagonal basin decorated with carved faces of saints, originally from the church at Tjalhuizum, but in the Friesch Museum at the time [="Een zandsteenen doopvont (XV), inwendig rond, uitwendig achtkant, op ieder vak versierd met in relief gehouwen aangezichten van heiligen, afkomstig uit de voormalige kerk (zie e), is in het Friesch museum te Leeuwarden."]
An entry in the Leeuwarder Gemmenschap of 1966, reproduced in the Historisch Centrum Leeuwarden [http://periodieken.historischcentrumleeuwarden.nl] [accessed 2 January 2016] illustrates three of the eight sides of the basin and identifies the heads on them as St. Barbara, and the apostles Peter and Paul.
