The baptismal font of this church is mentioned in the Junta de Manurga web page [www.juntademanurga.com/historia/personajes.asp] [accessed 12 December 2015] in relation to Tomás Ruíz de Apodaca, a 18th-century trader who would make his fortune in the Americas and died in Veracruz, Mexico, and whose memory the railing enclosure of the baptistery was installed [="y a su recuerdo se atribuye en la iglesia de Manurga la reja del baptisterio en cuya pila fue bautizado, ejemplar de hierro forjado con detalles dorados a fuego"]. The font is also mentioned in the entry for Manurga in the AlavaNet site [www.alava.net] [accessed 12 December 2015] of the Arabako Foru Aldundia / Diputación Foral de Álava: "En su interior cuenta con una pila bautismal lisa con pie y base en la que destacan tres bolas." The baptismal font consists of a plain hemispherical basin with a central drain, raised on a short oddly-shaped pedestal base made up of a short cylindrical stem with three rows of ball motif, and a circular lower base decorated with a single row of ball motif; the appearance of both, basin and base, suggests that the base may be considerably older than the basin. A circular wooden frame is secured to the upper rim of the basin, but the corresponding font cover is not present.
