Baptismal font partially illustrated and listed with measurements in Ligtenberg (1915). J.F. van Agt (1962) reports a font in the gardens at Amstenrade Kasteel: "In het park een ronde hardstenen doopvont, omstreeks 1200, vermoedelijk uit de oude kerk, versierd met vier koppen en acht primitieve driepassen." A 1925 B&W photograph reproduced in the Historie Schinnen site [www.historie-schinnen.nl/images/Amstenrade/images/prevs/prev29.jpg] [accessed 7 A December 2015] shows the font, half-covered in foliage, being used as a garden planter. The font may have been restored (?) to Amstenrade church in the 1930s restoration and expansion of the church. The font consists of a round basin with four human heads protruding at 90-degree angles; the heads are much damaged; the sides of the basin between the heads are decorated with a shallow arcade -or set of niches- two per side. The basin has been drastically re-tooled and the base appears modern. A metal insert is used in the font.
