Font Notes:
Noted and illustrated in the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed as a fragment of a holy-water stoup excavated near the present church. What remains now of the monolithic object is the base, octagonal stem and octagonal-to-square lower base, with a small part of the lower end of an octagonal basin with a plain rounded underbowl. This stoup has been restored and it is used now as baptismal font and located by the pulpit, as illustrated with a photograph by Olaf Smit, in Jack J. Luyckx' Levendmonument in Engelen Protestants kerkje op katholieke bodem, in Aanzienlijke huizen [https://www.bossche-encyclopedie.nl/publicaties/bossche bladen/pdf/2008-4LuycksAanz.pdf] [accessed 22 December 2021]. [cf. BSI entry for Engelen No.1 for a fragment of an earlier medieval font discovered here] [NB: the present Roman Catholic church here, Sint-Lambertus, is a 20th century bulding]
