Eyck (1846) mentions early fonts at Oldenzaal, Heemse, Loosduinen and Schokland [Ens?], that are now lost. Baptismal font illustrated in the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed stating that it is originally from Ens; the stone font bears the date 1826 or 1896 on one of the side panels of the basin, although the font itself does appear to be an earlier work. This font may be the same one referred to by Harry Woertink in a report 'The baptismal font of the Roman Catholic Church Brigittakerk, Ommen : ancient religious heritage' of 3 November 2017: "“Pastoor J. Bosch, 1826” is chiseled into the baptismal font that is located in the Roman Catholic Church of Ommen. It is the name of Joannes Bosch (1794-1842). The baptismal font itself dates from more than seven hundred years ago. It first stood in a church in Schokland and centuries before that in a church of a drowned village in the Zuiderzee. [...] The octagonal baptismal font is made of Bentheimer sandstone and comes from the roman catholic church on Schokland, which ceased to exist in 1859. In 1860, the Schokker church was demolished and the materials that could be reused were transferred to Ommen, including the baptismal font that may have been made in the twelfth or thirteenth century. [...] Pastor Bosch was not able to experience the eviction of Schokland himself. As a lasting memory, his name is engraved in the baptismal font and the date on which the pastor purchased the baptismal font. However, the baptismal font is much older than 1826. It once belonged to a church that had previously perished in the Zuiderzee.[...] The baptismal font was not placed directly in the church on Schokland, but was first on display as a curiosity on the island. The great flood disaster of 1825 also destroyed the church that Louis Napoleon had built. The stone baptismal font was purchased in 1826 by pastor Joannes Bosch to subsequently place it in the church on Schokland, which was rebuilt with government support." [cf. Index entry for Ens No. 2 for a font possibly from nearby Emmeloord].
