Church Notes: Early Christian (7th-8thC?) monument discovered outside the west door of the church, but is now located in the present baptistery; chapel dedicated to St Magloire documented in Vale, but no trace survived; Benedictine priory founded here ca. 968 AD; functioned till 1478; only a stone remains, near the south of the present church; present church built next to the priory in 1117
The present font is Victorian, a cylindrical basin with the lower end split open in an arcade of criss-crossing round arches on slender colimns with capitals and bases; on the inside is a set of clustered columns in lieu of a central shaft; the upper sides of the basin have two rows of decoration, the one above with beads, the one below with a vine. Font cover of wood with metal decoration and ring handle; modern as well.
