There is an netry for this Grove [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK7379/grove/] [accessed 17 November 2015], it mentions both a priest and a church in it. Thoroton's History of Nottinghamshire, vol. 3 (Nottingham: J Throsby, 1796) notes: "There was a priest and a church [cf. supra], and eight acres of meadow, pasture wood one leu. long, and half so much broad [...] The church is small, dedicated to St. Helen; it consist only of a nave and chancel, with a low tower, 2 bells", but does not mention a font in it. The Southwell & Nottingham Church History Project [http://southwellchurches.nottingham.ac.uk/grove/hfitting.php] [accessed 17 November 2015] notes and illustrates a font in this church: "The octagonal font has foliate panels and an octagonal foliate base and panelled stem." The font appears modern, perhaps Victorian, probably from the 1882 re-buiding of this church.
