Church Notes: church originally consecrated February 1120; re-built 13thC -- full photographic view in José Antonio Tolosa's site on mudéjar aragonés [www.aragonmudejar.com/ribagorza/pag/castro04.htm] [accessed 15 November 2015], and Antonio García Omedes' GUÍA DIGITAL DEL ARTE ROMÁNICO [www.castillodeloarre.org/HU-Ribagorza/990373-Castro3.htm] [accessed 15 November 2015]
Baptismal font noted and illustrated in Antonio García Omedes' GUÍA DIGITAL DEL ARTE ROMÁNICO [www.castillodeloarre.org/HU-Ribagorza/990373-Castro3.htm] [accessed 15 November 2015]. Unlike the interior of the church and its amazing mudéjar aragonés paintings, the font is a rather unremarkable: a plain roughly hemispherical basin mounted on a plain circular base; there is evidence at the upper rim of damage, probably caused by earlier cover hardware. The present wooden cover matches the font in character and plainness, flat with planks nailed across the top; what is unsual is the wooden frame that rings the upper basin rim, to which the lid proper locks.
