The font is attributed (?) to Jodocus Tauchen [aka Jobst / Jodok / Jost Tauchen] (fl. 1451-1495) [www.deutsche-biographie.de/sfz82192.html] [accessed 8 November 2015]. The basin is round with tapering sides decorated with an arcade of open-work behind which are housed scenes (Via Crucis, Crucifixion, etc.); the arcade itself is highly decorated, torsade columns, others twisted, etc., with well-defined capitals and thickly moulded lower bases; the scenes are crowded with people very close together; a row of heads (12?) decorates the lower rim of the basin; underbowl divided into [12?] panels decorated with foliage; the stem is hexagonal in general shape, with two human figures hanging from a centre ring moulding of the same shape [it appears other figures in the same position at opposite ends are missing]; crocketed trefoiled arches with demi-figures, perhaps Biblical characters, in the spandrels, on the stem proper; the lower part of the stem splays fluidly over to a hexafoiled lower base in a profusion of vegetation in which floats an angel holding a scroll at each of the six foils; the scrolls are blank; the sides of the lower base have open-work tracery, the panels separated by braided columns; a number of crouching humans dressed with hooded tops support the lower base; some have been lost. No cover present.
