The University of Leeds Digital Library Archive [http://digital.library.leeds.ac.uk/11955/] [accessed 5 September 2016] has an image catalogued as "Font, St Nicholas [church], Ghent" of a glass slide taken by Godfrey Bingley between 1884 and 1913; unfortunately the image shows a church interior that does not seem to correspond to the present Sint-Niklaaskerk interior, and no font evident. On-site notes: the present font in this church is relatively modern, perhaps 17th- or 18th-century, made chiefly of veined pinkish marble; it consists of a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with a gadrooned pattern on the underbowl, raised on a round baluster-type pedestal base and a small square lower base. Brass moulded font cover with orb-and-cross finial, a serpent with an apple in its mouth surrounding the orb, a motif found uin other such finials in this area; there is a wall-mounted metal crane to swing the cover open sideways. [NB: we have no information on the font of the original Romanesque church here].
