Church Notes: original church 12th-13thC
García Omedes [www.romanicoaragones.com/2-Ribagorza/990356-CapellaSMartin.htm] [accessed 7 October 2015] saw four baptismal fonts in this church in his 21 January 2005 visit here, located beneath the west gallery, but originally from abandoned nearby hamlets like Torruella [cf. Indes entry for Erdao]; he suggests that the three oldest of the group may have been made in a single workshop catering to church building in a narrow span of time in the area [="Bajo el coro, y al lado sur, se hallan cuatro pilas bautismales procedentes de diversos templos abandonados del entorno, como Torruella. Las tres más anteriores tienen una morfología muy similar y probablemente salieron de un mismo taller para dar servicio a templos erigidos en una época muy recortada en el tiempo."] A later visit by Mikel Unanue in September 2015 [personal communication of 5 October 2015 to BSI] found the area blocked in by a locked metal railing that impeded proper access to the fonts; three of the fonts were the same as the ones seen in 2005; a fourth was different; none is labelled or identified in any way. Unanue (ibid.) was told by a local that one of the fonts seen in 2005 had been sent "Graus' way", probably a font returned to its original location, or, if it was from the abandoned hamlet of Ordao [cf. Index entry], to Graus itself [to be sorted out]. The present font consists of a hemispherical basin decorated with a moulding, a band of large nail-head motifs and a tibbed pattern on the underbowl; raised on a modern plain pedestal base.
