Baptismal font of the sunken cruciform piscina type [NB: not known whether -or how much of- the height of the font was buried in the ground; perhaps most of it as the outer sides are not finished, unless the unburied outer surfaces were finished in cement or similar]; the font may have been similar to the one in the South Church [cf. Index entry for Shivta No. 1], but this one is much damaged. It is monolithic. One source (Evenari, Shanan and Tadmor, 2nd ., 1982: 166) claims a clay pipe brought water to this font from the general cistern at Shivta.
