Font Notes:
There are three entries for Sileby [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK6015/sileby/] [accessed 24 August 2015], one of which mentions a priest, but not a church in it, though there probably was one here. The entry for this church in English Heritage [Listing NGR: SK6005115174] (1966) reports a font of the 12th-13th century here. The font is rather awkward looking: plain round basin tapers off with rib-like protrusions at 90-degree angles; round lower base. On a modern quadrangular plinth. Wooden cover is bell-shaped octagonal. with carved lower sides; arrises on the dome part and turned finial; modern, with a dedication and the name of Eliza Morsley carved on the lower side. The font itself is a crude work.
