There is an entry for Shackerstone [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK3706/shackerstone/] [accessed 24 August 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Lewis (1848) entry for Shackerstone describes the church as " chiefly in the early English style, with some Norman details", and does not mention a font in it. The entry for this church in English Heritage [Listing NGR: SK3741306737] (1966) notes: "Octagonal font with the panelled sides depicting alternately, angels and symbols of the Evangelists." The present font appears to be in the style of the 15th-century East Anglian fonts, a modern rendering.
