There is an entry for Rotherby [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK6716/rotherby/] [accessed 24 August 2014], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Leicestershire Churches [www.leicestershirechurches.co.uk/rotherby-church-all-saints-2/] [accessed 24 August 2015] notes: "Nichol’s survey of the County carried out around the 1790’s mentions an ancient font [...] In John Thorsby’s book ‘Leicestershire View’ he states ‘The church has a very capacious old font almoft in the form of a tub’ [...] In 1882 the ancient font was replaced with one which had four supporting columns of Purbeck stone. The font bears the inscription, “Suffer little children to come unto me”. " The entry for this church in English Heritage [Listing NGR: SK6751916536] (1968) notes: "Church. C14 and C15 with Norman or possibly Saxon origins. Restored by W Millican of Leicester, 1882", but mentions no font in it.
