There is an entry for Heather [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK3910/heather/] [accessed 12 August 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Noted and partially illustrated in the Leicestershire Churches site [www.leicestershirechurches.co.uk/heather-church-st-john-the-baptist/] [accessed 12 August 2015]: "The font probably dates from the Victorian period although the base may be older." The font consists of a modern octagonal basin raised on a base said to be older [cf. supra].
