There is an entry for Gilmorton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP5788/gilmorton/] [accessed 12 August 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The present font, consisting of a square basin with chamfered corners and carved panels, raised on five columns, is probably from the 1860 re-building of the church. [NB: we have no information on the font of the 14th-century church here].
