There are two entries for Cotesbach [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP5382/cotesbach/] [accessed 30 July 2015], neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. The present font is modern; it consists of a cylindrical basin resting directly on a square plinth; the basin has a pronounced roll moulding on the upper rim, with saw-tooth pattern below; the sides are decorated with a busy pattern of floral motifs inscribed in a trellis of diamond shapes with beaded-tape. The wooden cover is also modern, of conical graded-moulding shape. [NB: we have no information on the font of the original 13th-century church here].
