There is an entry for Godalming [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU9643/godalming/] [accessed 26 April 2015]; it reports two churches and three hides of church land in it. Brayley (1850), in his description of the church at Godalming, writes: "In a large pew in the Westbrook chapel, is a very ancient font, for immersion, of an octagonal form and made of chalk." English Heritage [Listing NGR: SU9681144001] notes: "C15 or early C16 chalk font, in south chapel, with pyramidal base, octagonal stand with pointed arch to each face, roll moulding and octagonal bowl". [cf. Index entry for Godalming No. 1 for a pair of fragments of a possible font of earlier date in this church].
