Church Notes: original church here 12thC; former Cistercian monastery church now parish church [NB: the rest of the monastery is now [2004] a hotel]
Morgade Saavedra, et al. (2004) illustrate two vessels that have survived in this monastery: 1)a baptismal font located at the west end of the north aisle; it is a late font, perhaps 17th- or 18th-century, consisting of a round basin with tapering sides decorated with geometrical panels, on a round moulded pedestal base; the object appears much damaged at the upper rim, with restoration in a clearer material; 2) a basin and lower base, but no pedestal upper base, at the threshold of one of the doors; its basin is not dissimilar from the one of the surviving font, and it is clearly damaged as well, but not repaired; the lower base, if that is what it is, is a rather irregular quadrangular block. [NB: we have no information on the font of the original church of the Cistercian monastery here, unless the object located now outside the church is part of it].
