An entry in the Jaarboek van Limburgs Geschied- en Oudheidkundliche Genootschap (vol. A baptismal font here is mentioned in the Bulletin de l'Institut Archéologique Liégeois (vol. 9, 1868: 41), in the context of the church of Saint-Denis et Saint-Nicolas at Gothem, but no details are given about the Guttecoven font. Catalogued and illustrated in Ghislain (2009) as the lower base of a baptismal font of the Namurois group, filiation Furneaux, made of limestone (calcaire viséen ou dévonien) ca. 1150-1160; it has been built into a later font in this church; the font consists of a round basin with four protruding heads at 90-degree angles, raised on a five-column base; the lower base contains a pair of confronted crouching quadrupeds, their heads turned to the viewer. Ghislain (ibid.) remarks their similarity to those on the font at Evin (Pas-de-Calais) (ca. 1140?), and suggests these are a slightly later imitation.
