Noted in Hallbäck (1959) as a baptismal font made of soapstone in the 13th century, the basin being of a Norwegian design. The old font is illustrated in an undated B&W photograph in the Kulturmiljöbild, Riksantikvarieämbetet [cf. ImagesArea], in which the stone basin is displayed mounted on a wooden tree-trunk like pedestal base. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [http://medeltidbild.historiska.se/medeltidbild/visa/foremal.asp?objektid= 930711F4] [accessed 11 January 2015] as a baptismal font of ca. 1200, consisting of a soapstone tub-shaped basin decorated with a band of saw-tooth at the upper rim, and a thin rope moulding round the middle; the base is an awkward arrangement of pieces: a short conical piece atop followed down by a flat rounded stone, and a final circular lower base [are the blocks of the base also made of soapstone? or are they limestone?]; the SHM entry (ibid.) questions the integrity of the whole as it is now, suggesting it is a composite object. Part of the "Dalslandsgruppen" fonts. No cover present.
