Font Notes:
No entry for Crombrook found in the Domesday survey. The Comprehensive Gazetteer of England and Wales (1894-1895) reports "an ancient font" here. Kelly's Directory for Warwickshire (1896) reports "an ancient font, possibly Norman", in this church. The Victoria County History (Warwick, vol. 5: 1949) notes: "The small parish church of ST. MARY AND ST. MARGARET at Combrook consists of a chancel, nave, with a small west bell-cote, north and south aisles, and a north vestry. The chancel was rebuilt in 1831, [...] and the nave in 1866. The masonry of the chancel, of roughly squared white stone rubble with Hornton stone angle-dressings, appears to be partly ancient, but all the windows and other features are modern, the only medieval fitting being the font, which is of flower-pot shape with no indication of date." The Parish Church web site [www.combrook-pc.gov.uk/combrook-3116.cfm] [accessed 8 January 2015] reports the font here as Norman, located in the south aisle. [NB: the only image of the font here we could locate does not match the description or date of the notes above, and must therefore be the new font introduced in the 19th century; it does look Victorian].
