Font Notes:
There are three entries for [Fenny] Compton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SP4152/fenny-compton/] [accessed 5 January 2015], one of which, in the lordship of Gilbert of Wormleighton, reports a priest, but not a church in it, though there probably was one there. The Victoria County History (Warwick, vol. 5, 1949) notes: "Henry I confirmed to the Priory of Kenilworth the grant of the church of Compton of the fee of Ralph le Boteler (Pincerne) of Leicester. [...] The earliest features in the building are the chancel arch and part of the north arcade, dating from c. 1320–30 [...] The font has a modern bowl on an old circular stem and base; an old plain tapering bowl, now lying loose, was probably the original." English Heritage [Listing NGR: SP4168852157] (1967) reports: "Font has C19 bowl on old cylindrical stem and square base."
