Scene Description: Source caption: "Västerlanda kyrka [...] Dopfuntscuppa," -- the 1919 photograph shows the basin without the base; it appears to have been taken in a storage space, the font perhaps disused at the time

Hallbäck (1961) as a work from Västergötland, with a carved ring-chain pattern 13 cm tall; the author remarks on the difference of colour between basin and base. and mentions damage present. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 930707F2] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the second half of the 12th century by a Västergötland regional workshop, with a ring-chain pattern reminiscent of the Viking-age art, also with other counterparts in Västergötland but also in the Norwegian material, for which the SHM refers to Solhaug's Middelalderens döpefonter i Norge (2001). The font consists of two blocks of markedly distinct stone; the upper block is a roughly hemispherical basin with a receded upper rim, a broad band of interlace right below it, otherwise plain down to the rope moulding at the centre ring position; there is a short stem below the latter; the lower half is a round slightly splaying base of lighter and more porous stone. No cover present.
