Noted and illustrated in Hallbäck (1961) as the surviving basin of a baptismal font made of soapstone in the 13th century by master Thorkillus; it was raised on a new granite base in the 19th century; the author suggests similarities with the font in Björlanda. Roosval & Gardell (1944) report the font being painted in 1896. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 930708F3] as a baptismal font made of soapstone ca. 1200, part of the 'Thorkillusgruppen'; the font consists of a roughly cylindrical basin decorated with a broad flat moulring at the upper rim, with a vine that stems from the mouth of two human heads at opposite ends of the basin; the surface of the underbowl chamfer is decorated with large encircled rosettes; there is a ring moulding at the bottom of the underbowl. The plain cylindrical base is a later replacement [cf. supra] [NB: it is also possible that theThorkillus workshop which produced these fonts provided only the basin part, and that bases were supplied locally]. No font cover present but the church uses a brass baptismal dish with the font.
