A baptismal font here is mentioned in Hallbäck (1961) as being of a small group of fonts made in Dalsland, the others at Bärfendal and Ödeborg. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 930512F3] as a baptismal font made of soapstone ca 1200 by the "Beslagsmästaren". The irregular font consists of a roughly cylindrical basin decorated with what appears to be an imitation of medieval ironwork patterns all around, and a plain rounded underbowl; one of the spandrels of the basin arcade has a symbol that resembles a crowned M; short base consisting of a cylindrical stem and a splaying circular lower base; with these two pieces the font is too short, perhaps because it is missing the original stem proper, and is now raised on a modern lower base. The font is almost identical to the one at Bärfendal, in the same county. The SHM's Mb describes the motif as "beslagsornamentik", and the workshop (?) responsible for these fonts, "Beslagsmästaren". [NB: there was no additional lower base when the font was photographed by the SHM. No font cover present. [NB: the new church, Svenneby (Nya) Kyrka, located several kms to the north of the old one, was completed in 1915, and has a font of granite made in 1963 from the drawings of Erik Lundberg, who was responsible for the renovation of the church on that year].
